Sevenhill Brother John May Reserve Shiraz 2018

These low yielding vines regularly produce our most concentrated and unique expression of Shiraz at Sevenhill. The fruit is fermented in one of our 150 year old open slate fermenters and plunged twice daily during fermentation. After 10 days on skins the must is basket pressed. The 2018 vintage spent 20 months in new French hogsheads (33%) and new Missouri Hogsheads (66%).

A dense red brick colour. The aroma layered and complex. Vanilla and cocoa, followed by Christmas cake aromas of dark cherry, ripe plums and prunes. There is an earthy, mineral core and hints of soft leather and boot polish. The palate fills the mouth with smooth luscious fruit, very soft and velvety tannins and a satisfying warmth to finish. A wine with the pedigree to reward cellaring, but also one that will provide much enjoyment.
